Conservatories are commonly known as glass structures added to houses.

Conservatories, whether you decide to Self Build or get a company to fully install, are great additions to any property.

Conservatories as we know them date back to the 17th Century and were additions to the houses of the rich and landed gentry to protect plants that they had brought back to the UK from their trips abroad. With their conservatories there were able to live in their garden all year round and enjoy their tropical plants!

The first conservatory as we know them today is allegedly the Oxford Botanic Garden, which was a fabulous glass structure.

An Edwardian Conservatory is glass ceiling to floor, really bringing the Garden into the Home, and the illusion of more space.

Like the Victorian Conservatory access to the garden is achieved through full length glass French doors, and ventilation is gained from top opening fan lights.
