The combination of angles and gearing means that there aren't many places the H3 won't go.
Frame & Suspension
The H3 has a three-piece, modular, boxed ladder-type frame to enhance strength and stiffness.
At the front is a independent torsion bar suspension. The rear also has independent suspension, using semi-elliptical leaf springs. HUMMER offers an optional Off-Road Adventure package for more extreme offroad needs.
The H3 comes standard with skid plates to protect the steering links, the oil pan, the transfer case and the fuel tank. Chassis-bolted rocker panel protectors are optional.
H3 Steering
The H3 uses rack and pinion steering with a 17:1 ratio.
ABS Traction Control & Braking
The H3 features an anti-lock braking system that uses Dynamic Rear Proportioning to help control rear braking in a panic stop situation.
The H3's traction control system works in conjunction with the engine controls and brake system to provide maximum traction with minimum wheel spin, even in the worst of conditions.
