Teak is known as the King of Hardwoods. Teak is one of the densest of hardwoods and it’s uniquely high oil content makes it virtually waterproof & resistant to all parasites. Teak is also impervious to cracks splitting and doesn’t warp.

Teak is in constant demand and whilst there are to many uses to list them all, they include the boating industry for clipper ships, cruise ships, yachts, dinghies and rugged workboats. Marine uses include interior decoration, hand rails, stairs and extensively as decking. Teak is also used for external flooring and outdoor furniture manufacture due to it’s supreme resistance to extremes of weather.

Teak needs no paint or varnish, and will age beautifully. No other wood or manmade material can offer as much versatility as TEAK!

Plantation teak is of consistently higher quality than wild teak due to the way plantations are regularly thinned to allow the teak to grow straight and to ensure that the lower, thicker sections of the tree are not covered in branches. Lower branches result in unsightly knots which drastically reduce the quality and grade of the teak.

There are very few untapped plantation teak supplies left and it’s extremely rare for plantation teak of this quality to be offered for sale in log form in the UK. This teak is from Government owned plantations in Ghana and the vast majority of Plantation teak from this region has been contracted for supply to the Asian mass markets. This may be one of the last genuine opportunities to import this resilient hardwood into the UK at these low prices. Teak prices are continuously rising. Self trading are happy to offer a 3 year supply contact with the price fixed. There are currently no other timber suppliers in the UK offering uncut bark off teak in this volume.
